In the last four days, suddenly my Nest / HVAC is demonstrating strange behavior. I have it set all day on Cool at 72 degrees, and it works fine except for the mid-to-late afternoon hours. Between about 2pm and 6pm, suddenly it starts blowing room temperature air. There are no error messages - the Nest says it's on and cooling to 72 but it just hovers around 75 or 76 no matter what I do. Then on its own, around 6 or 7, it starts blowing cold air again and goes back to normal.
I confirmed I don't have any auto-schedule or other energy saving setting on, but it almost seems like it's struggling during peak energy hours (I'm in Georgia in the summer so everyone's blasting the AC). Any ideas what's causing this?

I'm having the same issue in Arizona. Suddenly it says cooling to 76 but my reads 80 and 81 degrees.

Under settings, check to see if you are signed up for Nest Renew. I searched and searched last week after our thermostat went to 80° every afternoon at 2pm. It looked like I wasn't signed up until I logged in with my Google account, and then there it was. I was able to opt out of Seasonal Savings through the Nest Renew website, and it finally stopped going to 80°. I hope this works for you, too.

Thank you!! I did have it set up for seasonal savings. I'd just changed it a few weeks ago. I'm removing it now

For my issue, after turning off all the possible settings that I thought could have been at issue, the problem was still happening and ultimately an HVAC technician confirmed it was a mechanical issue and not a thermostat issue.
