Nest not responding - control is dead only blinking light

PBwhat
Community Member

My nest Learn continually ‘turns off’ and only displays a G and a green blinking light. After trying to restart it with no success ,it suddenly comes back to life (always on heat mode). For a few moments I can use it — although even then it does not press down very well and it’s hard to use the setting because it skips all over as if too sensitive.

then after 15 minutes it stops working again. This has happened 4 times…  any advice

Hi PBwhat,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check if you are still in need of any help. If so, please answer the following:

  1. Where are you located? From North America or Europe?
  2. When did the situation first occur?
  3. What is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  4. Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?"
  5. "Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  6. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  7. Does the thermostat charge with a USB cable?

Also, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Technical Info > Power and list down its Battery, VOC, VIN and lIN.
  2. Remove the thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent.
  3. Ensure that the wires are secured in their terminals and all the buttons are down.

Keep us posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
