Nest phone and home app workability

I've had the nest 3rd generation learning thermostat on the main floor of my house for two to three years now. And I installed it myself and got the app working for it on my phone and also in the home app for nest. I installed it using the two wires that had been used on previous thermostats upstairs and I have a hot water boiler heating system for it to control. No air conditioning or fans etc.

So I recently got a regular nest thermostat for the downstairs apartment in the house because I want to control the heat in there on the schedule for the person there who works night time hours and I want to save some money on the heating cost.
Since I had installed the learning thermostat with the two wires I assumed I could install the regular nest with the two wires that worked for previous ones downstairs.

But after trying that, I saw that I needed to get the nest power connector, to enable the two wires for the downstairs to work and operate the downstairs nest.
So I got the power connector and installed that to the wiring in my boiler and was then able to get the nest thermostat working downstairs and got the Wi-Fi working on it, and then I spent a couple of hours on the phone app, going through and scheduling when the heat should be on and off downstairs for the schedule that the person that lives there will use. And as far as I know that schedule is still working.
But somehow in trying to connect the downstairs phone app to the home app that I have on my phone and my computer for the learning thermostat, I was unable to do that. I tried various things that Google suggested for getting the home app to work on my phone and computer for the downstairs nest, but couldn't get that to work. The phone and home apps still work for the learning thermostat upstairs.

But now I can't access the downstairs thermostat on either my phone or my home app! But by looking at and checking the downstairs thermostat manually, it seems that the schedule I made is still intact,  but of course I want to see that on my phone and home app. I also want to be able to 'lock' the controls on the nest, just like I can on the learning nest, so my downstairs person can't change anything on it.   So how can I do that?

Hello Empty-nester,

We love seeing you reach out here in the Google Nest Community Forum. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

This might be an account setup that you do not remember. Verify first if your downstairs thermostat is connected to an account by going to its settings. If so, check the Google Home app and ensure that you are signed in with the correct email account associated with it, and if you are, check for the other available home structure where it might be linked.

If you still can't discover your thermostat, try signing in to a different email account you have. Also, it looks like you have the Nest Thermostat 2020 model, which doesn't have the lock feature. But here's an alternate setting for you to hold the temperature on the Nest Thermostat.

Let me know if you need more help.

Regards,
Mark
