Nest power loss no notification

Last night the power was interrupted to my thermostat.  This happened because the drain line got clogged and water backed up tripping the safety float switch. The app knew what had happened - when I opened it to see what was up when the house started to feel cold with negative temperatures outside it cheerfully told me that the thermostat had lost power.  It would have been really nice to get an alert from the nest app on my phone, or an email.

It seems like alerting when something is wrong would be pretty basic functionality for a "smart" thermostat. I have all permissions allowed and notifications enabled. This is the second time it has happened and need a solution.

Hi Alex42

Yikes! I understand your frustration with the lack of notifications from the Nest app regarding power loss to your thermostat. While the Nest Thermostat does have notification capabilities for certain events, such as low or high temperatures, it doesn't provide specific notifications for power loss incidents. If you would like to receive alerts or notifications for power loss events with your Nest Thermostat, you may need to explore alternative solutions or integrate additional devices into your setup. In this case, you may consider integrating your Nest Thermostat with a smart home monitoring system or hub such as Google Home that offers power outage notifications. These systems can provide alerts for various events, including power loss, and may offer more extensive customization options for notifications.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe

I didn't lose power to my home, the moisture sensor just got tripped and furnace turned off. So you are saying that the app can easily tell me the device lost power but cannot push a notification? That seems like the most basic functionality you could program. I am looking at getting something else plugged in to the same outlet that can trigger an alert but at this point I'm looking at Ecobee.
