Nest restarted on its own

I installed my nest E several months ago without issue.  Today I noticed that it said "nest restarting, be back soon".  Is this normal?   It's never done this before and I'm not exactly the best at technology.  Any help or info is appreciated.

Hello Dixiedo,

It's great that your Nest Thermostat E has been working well for several months. Seeing the message can be a bit surprising, but it's not uncommon for smart devices to undergo occasional updates or restarts to ensure they are running the latest software and maintaining optimal performance.

Typically, these restarts are automatic and happen in the background without causing any disruption to your heating or cooling systems. However, if the restart seems to be taking longer than usual or if you encounter any issues afterward, it might be a good idea to check for software updates in the Nest app or on the thermostat itself. Making sure your thermostat has the latest firmware can often resolve such issues.

If the problem persists or if you have specific concerns about the restart, it might have been a power issue. Check the battery level in the Technical Info to see if it drops to 3.7 volts. If it does, pull the thermostat display and charge it for an hour.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
