Nest says OFF but this house is so cold!!!

I just had an issue with my wiring and had an HVAC company come out. It was an rh wire issue (e24 maybe?). It wouldnt turn on at all.

HVAC company fixed it and it's working again. But now, even when my Nest says the entire system is OFF, the house is frigid. It's been like 78 degrees F during the day, and  73 degrees F at night, but the house is reading 65 degrees.

I've had the system off for hours but the house is stilll so cold.

I  don't understand why! Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

I can call the HVAC company in the morning but hoping for help here.

To clarify about what I meant the initial problem was... I couldnt get AC to stop running unless the heat was turned on. Didnt matter if it had already reached the cooling temp. Didnt matter if the Nest was turned to OFF.

Apparently there was a broken wire within the Nest (gen 2) device. When we took it off, the AC stopped running (finally). We put the old thermostat back up while we wait for our new Nest Learning Thermostat to arrive in the mail. We had the Nest Gen 2 for like 11 years without an issue til now! Excited to get the new one soon.

If your nest is off, then you need to change the mode back to Heat , so that it can call for heat and start heating up your home.

Using the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices
  3. Tap your thermostat
  4. Tap the Temperature mode icon
  5. Choose Heat
Using the thermostat

  1. Turn the ring up to increase the temperature
  2. Press the ring towards the wall to see more options
  3. Turn the ring to select Heat
  4. Press the ring again to confirm
