Nest says yellow wire doesn’t have power

My system has yellow for ac, green for fan, white, and Rh. In my old system Rh and Rc were jumped but according to nest docs there thermostat has an internal jumper. When I have yellow wired in, I get an error that there is no power, even though I can measure 24vac over the wire. When I remove the yellow wire the nest works with heat and fan.

please help

Hi Jaddphil,

Uh-oh! Based on the information you provided, it seems that there may be a compatibility issue or a wiring configuration problem with your Nest Thermostat and your HVAC system. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. What is the make and model of your previous thermostat?
  4. What is the make and model of your HVAC system?
  5. Could you send us a wiring photo of your thermostat's wiring configuration (both old and with Nest) so I can take a closer look?

On the other hand, you may use our Compatibility Checker to determine if a Nest Thermostat is compatible with your heating and cooling system.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Zoe
