Trying to determine Nest Thermostat compatibility

det_nestforum

While working through Google's compatibility checker I was told to send in a photo of the current thermostat wiring.

Here's the photo: https://photos.app.goo.gl/VpWykDS5sq2GaPQs8

(seems like a joke that this forum doesn't allow me to insert an image into this message)

My system is a natural gas powered, forced air, heating only furnace.

My current thermostat has a C, W, O and RC terminal connected to wires from the furnace. There's also a bridge cable from RC to RH. I've already read that the Nest Thermostat doesn't need that bridge.

Hi det_nestforum,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats. Fortunately, your thermostat wires are compatible with any of our Nest Thermostat and should be wired to the Nest Thermostat base as follows:

  • Blue wire to C
  • White wire to W or W1
  • Green wire to G
  • Red wire to R or RC/RH (disregarding the jumper wire)

Also, here's a guide for the installation and setup of a Nest Thermostat

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe
