Nest showing wrong temperature and AC will not stop. Getting very cold.

I have two Nests. Upstairs seems fine. Downstairs Nest is showing the wrong temp (higher than actual) and AC will not stop. Temp in downstairs part of the house was getting colder and I turned up set point to stop. Now AC tries to restart over and over. Trying to get Nest to calibrate to proper temp. Shows 85F but upstairs unit is set to 74F and is holding temp and cycling properly. Cooler downstairs than upstairs, so cannot be 85F. Both are same age. Both are on same WiFi with no network issues. Restarted downstairs Nest already with no change in temp reading. Seems to be tracking but off by more than 10 degrees.

Same happening to me… the only way the Nest reads the right temp is by turning off the AC... As soon I'm turning on Nest start increasing the temp

Hi folks,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

Can you first help us with the type of Nest Thermostat you have? It will help us determine what steps are best suited to solving the situation with your thermostats.

Best,

Zoe

It’s a Learning Thermostat. The kind with the shiny ring.

I looked at the link you sent. I believe it’s 2nd Gen. Don’t remember having other color choices and the screen is not that big.

Hi all,

@MSilva2, thanks for getting back to us. Pease check for the following on your Nest Learning Thermostat:

  1. Go to Settings and then Technical Infoand thenNetwork.
  2. Check for the Signal strength value.

Also if you have a room thermometer, take a photo of the thermometer next to the Nest Learning Thermostat. Both the thermometer and thermostat screens should be visible in the photo and show the difference in each other’s readouts.

@Amet, I want to check if you managed to see my response above. Please let us know if you still have questions or concerns, as we'll be willing to assist you further.

Regards,

Zoe
