Nest therm

Need some help. Bought "open box" nest therm on Ebay, (I  know,  1st mistake). Not open box, no original box or instructions. Got google home app, followed instructions but when I put the 6 digit code in off the back of nest, it said to use last 4 of ID above code. No place or ability to do that. Also my phone will not focus to use bar code. Help!!
