Nest thermastat not compatible

  • I have a W/G/Y/rh-rc wires but the message says my thermastat is not compatible with the Google nest thermastat I'm trying to install. I read that my jumper cable Rh-rc indicates I have a dual transformer. Is my thermastat compatible with another model of Google nest thermastat?

Hello Rappgirl4,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community. I'd be happy to shed some light on the situation here!

While some Nest Thermostats are compatible with dual transformer systems, the Google Nest Thermostats do not use jumper wires. If your current thermostat has jumper wires, do not connect them to your Nest thermostat. Can you share with us a photo of your current thermostat's wiring setup and let us know your HVAC system's make and model?

Hi there,

I'm sorry for the late reply, and thanks for the thermostat photo. It appears to be Nest Thermostat-compatible. But if you're planning to have the 2020 model with a mirror-finished display, a C wire or a Nest Power Connector may be required to deliver constant power to it. Please check out these articles to learn more about the common or C wire and the Nest Power Connector.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Warm regards,
Mark
