Nest thermometer power

Error message says no power to unit. I removed thermometer, charged it and it works for a while, then errors out again

I have the exact same problem.  Can new batteries be installed?  Can I get a replacement Nest?  Why doesn't the battery stay charged?  Charging via the USB keeps it going for about 1 day then the Nest dies again.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostat is having power/battery issues. But no need to worry, help's here!

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some important questions:

  1. What Nest Thermostat model do you have?
  2. When did the issue first occur?
  3. Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages?
  4. Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  5. Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  6. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?

Here are some basic steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue in the meantime:

  1. Check the Battery: Ensure the thermostat's battery is fully charged. If it's low, replace it.
  2. Verify Heating/Cooling Mode: Ensure the thermostat is set to the correct mode (heat, cool, or auto) based on your desired temperature.
  3. Check for Error Codes: Look for any error codes displayed on the thermostat. If you see an error, please let us know the details.
  4. Restart Thermostat: Power Cycle the Thermostat: Turn off the breaker that supplies power to your HVAC system for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on. However you can check the following article to Restart or reset a Nest thermostat depending on your device's model.

In case it helps, you can also check the following articles to review the Troubleshoot a "No power" alert on a Nest thermostat (E298, E448 or M20 help code) or to Troubleshoot when your thermostat won’t turn on.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Mario
