Nest thermometer stuck on “continue with google home app”

I had to factory reset my nest thermometer (with ring) and now it is stuck on “continue in google home app” but when I tried to install it using the home app I keep getting a server error try again in 30 seconds. I have tried many of the solutions but none is working. I am extremely frustrated  and would prefer not to have to shell out more money to a hvac company. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Just called them at 1630 EST and they said servers are having issues.

Thank you B/C I thought I was going crazy !!!!!

Me too!

Thanks for the update!  I was about to lose it!

Thank you. Did they have an estimated time for fixing it or say how we will know that the server is back up?

The customer service representative stated the engineering team was on it and to check back every few hours.

Glad to hear I’m not alone in my frustration, but that doesn’t help get a bit of heat into my house right now!  Grrrrrr!

Same here in Miami the heat is awful 🥵

Glad to see it's not just me. I spent 30 min on phone with support thinking I was just an idiot.

Try adding your device now. Mine just worked for the Nest.

Working for me but now the setup fails at “once you’ve replaced the batteries”. This is so annoying … it can’t connect to the device anymore. I tried 3 times and I’m fed up

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the trouble. The issue with the server is now resolved. You can now try adding your Nest Thermostats to the Google Home app.

@cscetbon, could you please try to remove your Nest Thermostat batteries for at least 60  seconds? After that, try adding your thermostat to the Google Home app.

I appreciate your help, @Ddavis7690 and @Fouge

Best,

Jenelyn

Thanks I was able to get it fixed with help from support. It was the Google Home app that was crashing at some point and I had to reinstall it for some reason.
