Nest thermostat 1 gen

Hi- I just installed a new nest thermostats gen 1.  3/4 days ago. This thermostat reads wrong temperature. Exp: other room temperature readers read 73 and my nest read 76-77. Why is that? It’s located in the hallway, not too hot not too cold there. The hole for the thermostat wire isn’t that big and I blocked it anyway. Still reads 4-5 degrees more. I set for 73, heat won’t come because it’s say room temp is 77-76. When I increase it to more that room temperature, then room temperature start dropping to actual temp. Please advise 🙏🏻

Hello Mo5150,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

To clarify, what type of Nest Thermostat model do you have? Also, could you provide a rundown of all the steps you've tried?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark

Hi there,

I wanted to see if you still needed help. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark, I have google nest Gen 1. I haven’t tried to fix the problem. It’s just read wrong temp. Ex:actual room temp 70, thermostat set to 73, but it shows room temp 76-77 so I don’t get heat. So, I have to increase it manually and put 78. Please advise.

Hello Mo5150,

Uh oh! I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. Let's see what's going on.

On your actual thermostat, please try these steps to isolate:

  1. Go to Settings > Technical Info > Network.
  2. Turn on Sunblock under Nest Sense in the settings.
  3. Check if the thermostat is near a heat source. (Air vents that direct warm air, appliances, electrical outlets, warm air in the wall, and other potential heat sources)
  4. Disconnect your thermostat from the Wi-Fi network within 24 hours.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Mark

Hey there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you; I'd like to make sure if there will be changes.

Thanks,

Mark
