Nest thermostat 3rd Gen not connecting to the Heat Link

Hi, I am trying to connect the thermostat (3rd Gen) to its Heat link without being successful.

The Heat Link has a blue flashing light.
I followed the steps below, suggested in a different thread:

- Brought the display while it's attached to the base and plugged in closer to the Heat Link
- Turned off the router and other WiFi or Bluetooth devices (router, speakers, cordless phones, baby monitor, etc.).
- Restarted the display by pressing for 10 seconds on it
- Selected Replace Heat Link
- Entered the Entry Key without confirming
- Restarted the Heat Link twice by pressing on the Nest button for 30 seconds each time
- Confirmed Entry Key on the display.

It did not turn yellow or green, after the reboot it turned flashing blue and no connection to thermostat.

The Heat Link manually turns on/off the boiler (combi)

Shall I do something more?

Thanks,
Stefano

Hi all, just wanted to give an heads up about the issue.

My plumber called the Support, they suggested to re-do the setup of the thermostat by wiring it to the Heat Link to the T1 and T2.

That solved the problem.

I hope this can be of some help for someone,

Cheers

Hi Stefano,

I have a similar issue currently... I assume the Bluetooth is gone on either the Heat Link or Thermostat then if a manual connection is the solution?

Hi RossG92,

in my case, I think the problem was only on the thermostat because the Heat Link was flashing blue. It seemed to me that the thermostat was not able to complete the setup via a wireless connection.

When it has been wired to the HL (t1 and t2), it completed the setup very quickly. Also, the wireless connection became immediately available.

I am not an electrician or plumber so I cannot explain exactly what was the root cause. In case of doubts, just call the Support, I think they can help you as they did with my plumber to solve the issue.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the reply - I've wired mine the same way and low and behold it works. I'm gonna keep it wired as I've ran the cabling within the wall following the power cable for Dock.

Take care

can anyone explain how its wired or do u have to get a professional to do this ?

Hi mate,

the professional who installed the new boiler did the job for me.

Actually mine is wired to electricity , is this what your talking about here thanks ?

My plumber connected the thermostat to the boiler via the T1 and T2.

This is because the thermostat must switch on/off the boiler. I think the electricity is not enough.

My recommendation is to talk with the Support so they can help you

I'm having similar issues with my new nest thermostat not connecting to the new heat link. Just had my boiler installed with new heat link and nest learning thermostat yesterday. Unable to connect thermostat to heat link. Pretty disappointing at how crap this process is and just how many have the same issue pretty **bleep** @User123456 to have this device with so many problems. Not a good first impression of Google devices tbh. I'd like Google to let me know how to fix it properly.

Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. I'll do my best to help. What color is the LED on your Heat Link?

You can try this:

1. Bring the display and base closer to the Heat Link and make sure the boiler is not in between the Heat Link and thermostat - only if possible.
2. Turn off the router and other WiFi or Bluetooth devices ( router, speakers, cordless phones, baby monitor, etc. ).
3. Select Replace Heat Link.
4. Enter the entry key ( do not confirm it yet ) — you can find it at the bottom side of the Heat Link, near the screw.
5. Restart the Heat Link twice by pressing on the Nest button for 30 seconds each time.
6. Confirm entry key.
