Hello.
I do not know what version of thermostat this is - it same with the house I bought it 2.5+ years ago. I am guessing 2020 since I'm told that is when the previous owners did a major overhaul on everything in and around the house.
*** Also, I just picked something under 'platform' (mandatory field???) because I never do anything with any app / platform, just program the thermostat on the wall.
The temperature suddenly starting increasing - it was 28 C when I caught it. When I tried to adjust the temperature, the dial would rotate, but wouldn't select anything - wouldn't change the menu selections to press.
I rebooted my router (in case of connectivity issues,), rebooted the thermostat, charged it for 2 hours with the USB cable, cleaned the screen.
Looking through the community posts, the only solution seems to be to buy a new one...? Really???
Is there anything else to do to fix this?

You can figure out which thermostat you have here. How to tell which Nest thermostat you have
If you do have the Google Nest Thermostat (2020) the display does note rotate. You run your finger along the touch bar on the right site of it. This link should help you.

@Patrick_Caezza , it is a 2nd Gen Learning Thermostat.
I charged it again with the cable and now when I put it back on the wall, it kept decreasing the temperature it is set to - it now says it’s set to 16 C

It is like a hardware issue, especially if the dial rotates but doesn’t register selections. You might try resetting it to factory settings, but if that doesn’t help, replacing it may be the only option. Frustrating, for sure.

It’s frustrating when a thermostat malfunctions, especially without clear solutions. Since you’ve tried rebooting, charging, and cleaning, it could be a hardware issue. If the dial isn’t selecting, a factory reset (if possible) or checking for firmware updates might help. Otherwise, replacing it may be the only option unfortunately, some flavors of tech just don’t last.
