My nest thermostat all of a sudden stopped working and appears to be disconnected. I cannot reconnect it.

Hi taweber71,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat got disconnected from network. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages?
  4. Can your other devices find your Wi-Fi network name (SSID)?
  5. Do you only have one Wi-Fi network, or are there others? If yes, do any of them end in _ext?
  6. Are you trying to connect to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network?
  7. Can your other Wi-Fi-capable devices (phone, tablet, computer) connect to the internet through your Wi-Fi network?
  8. Were there recent network changes like a new router or a recent move?
  9. Were there changes to the network name or password?
  10. How far away is the thermostat from the router?
  11. Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the thermostat?
  12. What's the software version of your thermostat?
  13. Are you controlling your thermostat from the Nest or Google Home app or the thermostat display? If from the Nest or Google Home app: Is your mobile device on a different Wi-Fi network than the thermostat?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
