Nest thermostat distribution fan not starting in cooling mode

Giri

I just bought a Nest Thermostat not the learning thermostat.  I installed it and the heating seems to be working fine. While testing the cooling part, the compressor is starting but not the distribution fan.  I have a wire going to the "G" line.  What could be causing the problem?

  • Turns out my wiring setup was incorrect. Fan wasn’t part of initial setup and showed as empty. Added the fan wire to config and fine now

Hi Giri,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delay. I want to dig deeper into this.

Just to confirm, do you have a single speed system fan? Also, how many fan wires do you have? Could you post a photo of your old thermostat wires and your current Nest Thermostat wires?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Melba
