Nest thermostat failed exactly after 2 years

Hi has anyone had this issue where your Nest suddenly stops connecting to wifi and its just outside your 2 years warranty. I have no recourse on this. I spent $300 to get this one and just after 2 years I have to spend similar money again. This is not fair.

Yes this is a known issue apparently and it happened to me in July 2025 after installing it Jan 2022.  They literally could not care less it seems.  Would you really buy another one from them after they refuse to help fix it?  I've spent hours troubleshooting it and have done all the things, it's not user error.

That’s really frustrating! Wi-Fi issues just after the warranty can feel unfair. You could try basic troubleshooting like rebooting your router, checking Wi-Fi settings, or doing a factory reset on the Nest. If that doesn’t work, sometimes contacting Nest Support is worth it—they may offer a discount or solution even outside warranty. Sharing your experience on forums can also help see if others have a workaround before replacing it.

I contacted Nest support and they couldn’t do anything. I even asked if I can trade in or get a discount on a new device. He said no. I might try escalating it to a manager.

I'm sorry to hear about everyone's troubles.  Apparently this summer they had issues with their servers.  I have also done everything possible troubleshooting wise and nothing seems to work.  Please update us on any progress with their tech support. Thanks!
