I have 2 nest thermostats that went offline on my Vivint smart panel a week ago and I'm not sure what happened. I rebooted the panel and they are still shown offline. They are grayed out on the device menu and I can't remove them. In fact, nest doesn't doesn't even show up in the device list when you access the installer's tool box. They don't show up in my vivint app as being offline, however when you try to move the ring it trys to communicate and then defaults back to where the thermostats were originally set before they went offline. The app also scrolls a message "Keep your Google Nest integrated with Vivint". If I touch that message it displays the Migrate Now screen. When I try to migrate, I get a message on the next screen "Can't find devices to link to Vivint". It also states that the person who first setup the home must migrate their nest account to a google account before you can link to Vivint. Apparently, a step got missed somewhere in the migration to google and was done BEFORE the Works With Nest step was completed. This must have messed everything up between the linking of the two apps (vivint and nest). Anyone have a solution to remove these nest thermostats from the vivint app and panel?

Hi eagleman101,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with controlling your Nest Thermostat using your Vivint app. I'd love to know more about this. Could you check if you can still access your Nest Thermostat using the Nest App? If so, are they also appearing in the Google Home app?
Thanks,
Edward

Hi Edward,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I sent a reply from my email a day after your message, but it came back as undeliverable. I guess it must have been too long so I'll condense it on the forum site. I was able to access and control the thermostats on both Nest and Home without any issues. I was also able to control them when linked to the Vivint account as well. The problem was the previous nest app worked fine with Vivint until the migration change came into play. The CS at google told me to look in the Vivint app for Works with Nest and then remove the thermostat. I explained that when the "Works With Nest" option was executed, it didn't show anything to remove. They had me go through the whole migration process again and I would still end up with 2 extra thermostats on my Vivint app and panel that were non-responsive and COULD NOT be removed no matter what was done. Neither of the Vivint or Google Nest CS rep's could remove them through any software app solution. Since these are not zwave devices they appear to be handled differently through the app and physical panel. There also doesn't appear to be any current backend solution to remove these non-zwave devices which are grayed out in the Vivint app and smart panel. I managed to finally get an onsite Vivint technician after hours of troubleshooting over the phone with no resolution. The technician was not able to remove the thermostats either. After several hours with his support staff and by demand on my part, a decision was finally made to replace the smart panel and re-register my entire account as well. I'm happy to report that this seems to have solved the problem. However, It doesn't explain exactly why or how it happened. Although I'm not a software developer, I do have an extensive background in hardware and software troubleshooting. I'm also not convinced a $400 panel replacement was necessary but kudos to Vivint for covering the expense of everything. Hopefully others will read this and be better informed. I hope that Vivint and Google Nest developers look into this situation and figure it out. At the vary least, Vivint has to be able to remove any and all devices on the back end that are attached to their hardware especially from any third party authorized access.
