Nest thermostat heat pump no c wire

Have searched many topics and can’t find the answer other than I need to add a c wire.

Ruud ac unit outside with heat pump air handler inside.  There are only 4 wires going to the thermostat.  Since there was no extra wire to connect to common I have tried to install the nest power connector.

Original wiring (4 wires) at thermostat was:

Red from air handler connected to RH jumped with RC at thermostat

Common from air handler connected to ac unit and back from ac unit connected to Y

2 white wires from air handler to W on thermostat

Green from air handler to G on thermostat

When I connected the power connector I still saw the N260 error but the thermostat works otherwise.  I’m hoping there is a way to add the power connector to fix this problem.  Thanks.

Hi Finja,

I understand you're seeing an N260 error code with your Nest Thermostat and Power Connector. Here are some troubleshooting steps that could help:

  • Factory Reset: If the error code persists after installing the Power Connector, try resetting your Nest Thermostat to factory settings. This might resolve the issue. You can find instructions on how to do this here: Reset a Nest thermostat: link.

Alternatively, you can contact our technician department for further assistance: Contact a Nest Pro: link.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Chris
