Replaced regular heat/cool thermostat with a Nest. Seemed fine until next month utility bill came in at $670 instead of $150. Apparently the heat strip had voltage on it at the same time as the a/c was running. No error message, no notification, wiring correct. Not a very good experience for a state of the art device. Any ideas?

Hi DOD,
I know it has been a while, but I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.
I'm sorry for the experience and to hear that your bill went up due to your system running at the same time. This might be a power-related or setup issue that could cause this. Could you please share with us your thermostat's wiring? Also, a screenshot of your energy history would help us identify the changes.
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark
