Next Smart two independent units

ruid61
Community Member

I apologize if the question has been posed before but I have the following situation.

I have two separate units, an AC unit  and a heating unit (oil based radiator) that were controller by a standard digital thermostat with Rc, Y, G (for AC) and R (Rh I suppose) and W. I recently added Next Smart but I don't see an option to control both units. I can either control one or the other but not both.

Please advise on any workarounds.

Regards

Hi there,

Thanks for the follow-up. Your thermostat wires are compatible only with the Nest Learning Thermostat since you have a dual-transformer system. The wires should be wired to the Nest Learning Thermostat's base as shown below.

Also, take note that if you can't tell anymore which wire is which as you install the Nest Learning Thermostat, I recommend that you contact a local HVAC technician so that they can properly install it for you.

Regards,

Zoe

Hi ruid61,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation.

Can you tell us what type of Nest Thermostat you installed? Also, please send us a photo of your old thermostat wiring configuration and a photo of how you connected the thermostat wires to the Nest Thermostat base.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hi Zoe,

Thank you for reaching out.

The Best thermostat is the Nest smart, which I includ a picture. I also include the wiring setup from my previous thermostat.

I look forward to your advice.

Rui

P.s. it looks like I am having difficulty attaching the pics. I will get them to you soon.

PXL_20230611_214013790.jpgThis is the Best Smart unplugged. I am sorry at the moment I put back my old digital thermostat to test the wiring to ensure everything is still work and it is, so I know for sure the issue may be with the Nest Smart. I am getting some feedback that I may need the Best Learning model.
