Hi all
today i removed a honeywell TH6110D1021 which had a jumper between R and RC ( i do not have a heat pump )
When i installed the nest, during the settings it said "yellow wire not detected". It was stripped properly and clearly connected so i moved on. When i ran "cool" hot air comes out but the outside condenser does start.
I installed a second nest on my second thermostat and got the exact same situation. "yellow wire not detected" and it blows hot air not cold. The air coming out of the condensers is cool, not hot per normal.
I factory reset both Nest's, reseated all cables and not change. I put the honewell's back in and all works perfect.
Any ideas? I only have a Blue wire for common, G for ground, White, yellow and red.

Hi Timcordell23,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. What is the make and model of your HVAC system? Ensure that there's no jumper wire connected to your Nest Thermostat. Do you see any messages or codes in your thermostat?
Best,
Jenelyn

hi jenelyn! thank you for the follow up. Ill confirm the model for you asap. There was a jumper on the original thermostat but NOT on the nest. Also, when i was installing both Nest thermostats, each time they both said "yellow wire not detected". I tried removing, re stripping and re-inserting the yellow wire on both but it never changed. Also, on the compatibility webiste when i select which wires i have, it says no problem. But in the app, when telling it what wires i have, it says it is NOT compatible?

Hey Timcordell23,
Thanks for the update — I appreciate the troubleshooting that you've already done. Based on your thermostat wiring you only have a conventional system which is compatible with Nest Thermostats. However, there are some HVAC systems that might be incompatible, and that is the one we'll look into your case and we'll check it using the make and model of your HVAC system.
Best,
Jenelyn
