Nest thermostat keeps turning heating and water on by itself!

I keep finding my Nest has turned on the heating at full heat! It’s doing the same with water.
Everything is switched to off and nothing is set in the schedule, but every now and then I remote check in the app and find everything on and burning energy.
Is this likely to be as fault and a replacement is needed?

Have you looked at the Bacteria Prevention setting, that might be the issue?

I don’t seem to have that setting.
(in iOS Nest app - maybe look via webpage?)

I didn't say in the app, have a look in the settings of the display.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for looking into this, @Frustratedddd.

@Dorsetto, to confirm, could you please tell us the Nest Thermostat model you have and from what country you are posting? Also, I did find an article that might help.

Regards,
Mark

I’ve switched off the bacteria prevention setting. We’ll see if that helps

Hello there,

Checking back in—how's it going? Were there any changes? Did turning off the Bacteria Prevention help?

Thanks,

Mark

just checked via app and for some reason heating is set to full and water is on as well.

t's still random switching on both heating and water to full heat.

Within the past 4 weeks since you asked the question about your thermostat, have you factory reset yet?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the help here, @Frustratedddd.

@Dorsetto, I know it has been a while, but I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here. In addition to what was shared above, check for any thermostat actions available in the Google Home app's Routines settings. Edit them if needed or remove them to avoid unexpected activation. Also, clear all scheduled temperatures you have created and restart the thermostat to refresh.

Let us know if you need more help.

Regards,

Mark
