Nest thermostat overheating

Often my nest keeps my heater running well past the set temperature. Once it was set on 68 I was out of town and it reached 93 in my house with my pets there. Please help. If I pull it from the wall the furnace cuts off

@Dfrost09 ,

When set a heating temperature set point, what reports on the display for the actual room temperature and have you ever witnessed the room temperature, better known the ambient temperature, is at the time that the heater continues to run past the set point. trying to determine if there’s a problem with one of the thermometers that’s got a false reading and causing the temperature to abnormally be thinking it’s lower than it is.

I had it set on 67° today and came home and it said it was 75° in the house. Definitely felt it. I actually took the thermostat off today and it kept running for an hour. Maybe it's my heater?

That is like a wiring or sensor issue, especially if the furnace only stops when you pull the Nest off the wall. A quick check of the base plate wiring or a reset might help until support can look into it. And for simple, reliable tools, Golo777 has been a solid pick for me.

Hi @Dfrost09, this sounds like a serious thermostat or wiring issue. First, check that your Nest firmware is up to date and that the wiring matches Nest’s recommended configuration. If it still overheats, shut off the furnace at the breaker before removing the thermostat to prevent damage or hazards. Contact Nest support immediately, as this could be a safety risk for your pets and home.
