What's happening to Nest?!?!?
I noticed my app was no longer connected to the thermostat on my phone today. As soon as I got home, I went straight to the thermostat to find out why it wasn't connected to my WiFi. Low battery. The thermostat doesn't have a battery. I've read story after story on this sight stating the same thing. Has Nest turned into junk since Google took over them?
Nest Learning Thermostat
Y1 wire
G wire
Rc wire
W1 wire
All wires are connected.

How do we resolve this without having to purchase a new thermostat? I really like Nest products, but won't buy another one if this is the way they work. I've had this thermostat for at least 5 years and no problems.

Your issue is with wifi, this is different that the OP..who does not have a C wire and therefore the thermostat is not receiving enough power to run properly .

Thanks for the response Ashepherdson. How has it been running fine for the last 5 years without the C wire if that could potentially be the problem?

Because as the battery has aged it is not longer able to store up enough energy with the limited amount it's getting from your other wires.

Check what the voltage on the best thermostat is by going Into the app, settings, technical details. It should be 3.89 or close to there. Just so you know the thermostat does have an internal battery, this is how it stays on when you disconnect it from the baseplate.
If your HVAC system isn't providing enough power then you may need a C wire. You can get the C wire adaptor from the Google store. https://store.google.com/product/nest_power_connector?hl=en-GB

I've been having a similar problem the past 2 months. Very frustrating.

Lots of people have, which is unfortunate for this product. Mine was horrible for one day and since then, no problems. It has to be something being it happens so randomly. I'd like to know why Nest/Google isn't taking ownership of this problem and isn't answering these posts.

Let me ask, did your system run a lot the day before or the day of the battery going low? If so that makes sense.. as it only draws power when the load is off.
