Nest thermostat replace display

EveBlumson

Hi,

I am getting a replacement nest display from Google, as my current one no longer connects to WiFi. I've been told that it will connect to the existing heat link. I wanted to know if anyone has replaced their display unit and what the exact process is? Should I remove the old thermostat from the app first? How will the new unit find the existing heat link?

Sorry if the answer I'm not very tech savvy!

Thanks for any help!

This is a very easy procedure, and there are many suggestions littered over the internet.

1. Remove your old thermostat from your App account - factory reset the display - your old thermostat is now free from your account

2. Fit your new display to the base connector ring

3. Press the button on the Heat Link for about 30 seconds until you get a blue pulsing light - do that twice

4. Make a note of the entry key on your Heat Link - 6 digit code by the left hand fixing screw or by the Heat Link cover screw

5. You are now ready to pair

6. Go to the display and follow the instructions - eventually you will get to a screen where the display will keep searching for your old display. Just let it search.

7. When the search has given up, you will have a choice what to do - choose ''Replace Heat Link''

8. Follow the instructions by entering your 6 digit entry key

9. When you have entered the key, you may find the screen could freeze - this is very common, with luck yours will work fine. Should the screen freeze, follow the instructions again, but when at the entry code go as far as ''Connect'', but do not click connect. Leave for about 2-3mins. After that time, then click connect.

For some reason and Googles cheap hardware, freezing is common problem, unless you are hard wired.

After that, just follow the instructions to the end.

Thank you so much!!

Your instructions were really helpful. I had the screen freezing issue, but your solution worked perfectly!

New thermostat is up and running. Hope it lasts longer than the 4 months I got out of the previous one!

Thanks again!
