Nest thermostat says incorrect wifi password

I just moved into a new home that has a nest thermostat system. I connected it to the wifi and it was working as intended.

I then wanted to rename my wifi from the generic numbers and letters, so I changed the name and the password. Now the thermostat is disconnected and says the wifi password is incorrect. Here are notes/things i've tried so far:

- Yes the wifi password is spelled correctly
- Yes I factory reset AND restarted the thermostat twice
- The wifi network appears under networks when trying to set it up, it just always says incorrect password

Can a representative please give me some potential solutions to try for this issue?

Hi Jhwalles12,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Wi-Fi connection on the Nest Thermostat. I understand how frustrating it can be when things don't work as expected. In this case you can try with the next steps:

  • Ensure the device is awake and in ready mode.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is on. Turn Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection.
  • Put the mobile device on airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
  • Quit and restart the Nest or Google Home app.
  • Restart the phone or tablet.
  • Move all devices being used for pairing closer to the router.
  • Restart the router.
  • Reset the joining device to default.
  • Ensure that IPv6 is enabled on the access point.

And please, if the thermostat can find other networks, restart the Wi-Fi access point, router, modem, and network extenders.
Please let me know how that goes. Please keep me posted.

Best regards,
Jenny
