I moved in to a new house that has a nest thermostat installed. It was working, showing temperature etc.. I performed a factory reset to ensure previous owners could not access the unit.
Now thermostat is stuck on "continue to setup". I have removed batteries and reinstalled but nothing changes.
I have google home installed on my phone but qr code will not scan on back of unit, it says "something went wrong"
Please help.

Your Nest is likely still linked to a previous owner account. And factory reset does not clear this. The QR code you need is displayed on the screen of the Nest. This appears after the Nest does basic configuration and then asks you to scan the QR code and install the app. Have your real estate agent contact the seller and ask them to “remove device” from their Nest app.

Real estate agent has contacted previous owner who has said he has removed access to it. I will ask him to confirm again.
Nest doesn't show anything on screen other than "continue setup on Google home app" tapping the screen or the side doesn't change this.

@Paul_H , what model is your Nest Thermostat?

Hey, It's the nest thermostat with mirrored face and touchscreen, not the e or learning. Think it's the 3rd generation. There's also new wifi in the house so it's not connected to internet

@Paul_H , you can go into SETTINGS on the Nest Thermostat and choose NETWORK, then change the SSID and password and thus connect to your new WiFi network.

It was stuck on the continue to home screen. Tapping the side or touching the screen did nothing.
I removed my home from the app and uninstalled, then reinstalled and added my home location again and it worked.
Thanks for your help.
