We had a cold snap the last week and noticed my heat will not come on. I checked the wiring and noticed I had my common hooked up to the o/b. I removed and placed to common line. I uninstalled / removed from Google home / and factory reset the app, and thermostat. When reinstalling I correctly selected the proper wires hooked them up properly however Nest is still throwing me to a heat pump configuration. I'm currently on a gas furnace and no heat pump. Any help as to why I'm unable to select my fuel type and why it's defaulting to a heat pump? I'm all out of ideas.

Hi JoeyLam,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. To isolate the issue, could you try changing the equipment settings of your Nest Thermostat? Here's how:
Let us know how it goes.

Under heat type it only shows dual and single fuel systems. I have a single fuel, even in that selection it still recognizes a heat pump unfortunately, my HVAC guy even came by and couldn't get it to remove the Heat Pump setting.

Joeylam,
Please try this, using the thermostat face, it dies not need to be on the back plate. Wake it up, go into menu, then rotate the ring to RESET and perform a reset. Did your HVAC guy make sure you had a Common wire at your thermostat?
Now, take a picture of your old thermostat back plate and post it here so I can see what wires are connected to what. Please post that picture here. Thank you.

Blue wire going to O/B has been corrected and moved to Common, reset the thermostat, removed nest from home app, cleared cache in app, uninstalled app. Reinstalled nest thermostat from factory settings, still shows heat pump under single fuel. This has been done multiple times still to the same results.

In order to change the system type you need to enter Pro Setup under Equipment. Once there, you can change the system type to CONVENTIONAL and heating to Gas. Under pro setup you will see the backplate with the wires detected. Rotate the ring until the wedge hi lighted is O/B, select, the change it to unused. The. Rotate to W and change to GAS Furnace, if any wedges are yellow, go to them and select and correct.
Y is AC Cooling Compressor, W is Heating, G is Fan, Rc is Power In, C is Common.

I wish I could my friend however it's not giving me these options. Trust me I've gone over the options, as has my HVAC company. Unfortunately my return policy on the Nest expired in September, I'll likely go back to the EcoNet this weekend.
