Hey. I have a third gen Learning Thermostat. Cooling is set to 20. It’s 22 in the house so no reason it should stop. It stops then immediately starts. Stops again then immediately starts. Stops a third time then immediately starts and continues running. Same sequence every time. My cousin is a HVAC tech and suggested I try a dumb thermostat as he has seen the Nest cause issues. I am running a dumb thermostat right now and sure enough the problem has gone away. So it’s definitely the Nest doing it. Ideas?

Hello klein1jo,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
A power-related issue is most likely to be the main cause of your system's short-cycle. To better understand this, is this a newly installed Nest Thermostat? Does it have a Common wire installed? If none, I'd suggest installing a Nest Power Connector or a common wire to consistently deliver power to your thermostat.
Please check out this article and let us know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Mark

Hey,
Thanks for the follow up!
I did some Googling shortly after I posted this and stumbled across that exact article. I installed the Nest Power Connector about a week ago and so far so good. In my case the Nest wasn’t complaining about power. The issue only started after we got a new AC. It didn’t do it with the old AC. Don’t know what it is about the new AC, but the result speaks for itself though. Needed the extra power from the Power Connector.

Hi klein1jo,
Awesome! Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear it was sorted out by installing a Nest Power Connector. It looks like we can consider this one complete. Feel free to create a new post if you have any other concerns or questions.
