Nest turning off then on

Mitchgam
Community Member

I purchased a house with a Nest, 2nd gen I believe.

All has gone well until this week when it shuts off, saying it is not getting power from the “Rh” wire and refers me to Nest.com/e24.

i looked but that link doesn’t make any sense. I called but was told to contact a repair person.

A bit later it turned back on, on its own. Since then it has shut itself off then on numerous times without my doing anything.

Does anybody have any idea what is going on with it ?

Hi Mitchgam,

Thanks for sharing this with us!  I'm sorry to hear that as well as for the delayed response. No worries, we'll check this together. The system may not provide enough power or any power to either the thermostat or a specific wire (so the thermostat can’t complete a circuit and shows an error). The common wire may not be properly grounded, so the system uses power sharing but doesn’t get enough energy. A connection failure may be in one of the power terminals and causes the power loss.

You may check this article to learn how to troubleshoot your Nest thermostat when prompted with the error codes.

Thanks,

JT

Thanks for your reply. I already found the problem and fixed it. My unit has a shut off valve when the water backs up. I cleared the line.
