Nest will not call for hot water, will call for heating

3rd gen learning thermostat been working fine for 2/3 years, all of a sudden hasn’t heated any water and won’t call for heat when boosted. Screen does not turn orange. Turned off and on again, press boost, screen turns orange then after a minute turns grey without ever calling for heat. How do I hear my water??

Thanks for reaching out @Jeeves1 and for all the details. I am sorry to hear you are facing difficulties with your thermostat and I would be happy to try and assist. 

Let us first do a quick test using the manual mode from the Heat Link. Press the button on the Heat Link once. This will turn on the manual mode and activate 2 green LED lights on the Heat Link. This should turn on both the hot water and the heating. Leave this running for a while. 30 minutes perhaps or more if possible and check if the water tank seems to be working. You can press the button again to turn it off. Let me know how it goes after and if it seems that it heats the hot water up a bit.
