Suddenly our Nest thermostat stopped working. I keep getting an error that there’s no power in the Rc wire and the AC or fan won’t turn on. I mess around with it, straighten wire etc and still nothing. If we remove the Rc wire then the Nest will throw an error for some other wire. All wires have been checked and they are inserted properly. Eventually we put the old Honeywell thermostat back on and everything works. So I know there isn’t an issue with the power source or wire. Anyone else have this? Would a Nest technician be the best to have come out? We had an HVAC tech out for our biannual “checkup” and he could not determine what the issue with the thermostat could be. He admitted he hates working in Nests so I don’t think he wanted to put a lot of effort into it and since the Honeywell thermostat was working he didn’t really try very hard. Could this be a problem with the Nest base?

Hi elmcgrane,
Thanks for reaching out in the Google Nest Community forum. I appreciate you being a step ahead of us. I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I'd like to take a closer look at it. To confirm, in what country are you located? When did you purchase your Nest Thermostat? Also, could you please gather your thermostat's power readout? You can check it under your thermostat's technical info.
Best,
Jenelyn
