Nest wont send password reset to my gmail

I had a nest thermostat account a few years ago. Switched back to traditional thermostat. Now I bought the learning thermostat. When I log in i cant remeber past pw. When I hit send pw to my gmail nothing comes to my gmail account. How can i reset Nest pw so I can use the app benefits on this device?

Easiest way I would think is setup a new email.

dpjax123, do you still need help with this? If yes, I would want to confirm if the Nest account you're trying to reset the password on is migrated to Google or not? If it's not migrated, please follow the steps I've listed below:

  1. From the Nest mobile or web app login page, select Sign in with Nest at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select Forgot Password.
  3. Type in the email address registered with the account and select Reset Password.
  4. Shortly thereafter, the customer will receive an email that includes a link which allows them to reset their password. Click where it says here.
  5. Type in the new password, then once again to confirm. ​Password requirements are:
    • 8 or more characters
    • Uppercase and lowercase letters
    • Numbers
    • Symbols

I click reset password, enter my account info and I never receive the reset password email. Still is happening.

Got it — do you remember if you're using a migrated Google account or a non-migrated Nest one when signing into your Nest app?

What if you don't remember which email is associated with the account?  How do you reset that?  If you use the wrong one, the password reset doesn't work.

This does not work.  I have selected reset password multiple time and have not received the reset email.  I have check SPAM also.  VERY Frustrating.

I'm sorry for the late reply and for the trouble you're having with your Nest account. Let's see what's going on.

 

Could you please try signing in here via the web and see if it will push through? If so, continue to login and uninstall and reinstall the Nest app on your phone before attempting to login again. If not, try changing your password over the web.

I believe it is my original google account, which is this one.

Hi there, 

 

Understood. When signing in to your Nest app, are you selecting on the "Sign in with Google" option or the "Sign in with Nest" at the bottom? You should only choose "Sign in with Google" if you migrated your account.

 I do sign in via google, then it pulls up a screen that says enter Nest password, which I don't know. So i hit forgot password, then enter my email. But then I never receive the reset password email. That's the issue. i TOOK A SCREENSHOT OF THE PAGE, BUT CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO UPLOAD IT HERE.

Hey there, 

 

There should be an icon below the reply box that looks like a cloud with an arrow inside it where you can drag and drop the photo or the file that you want to share. 

 

Instead of choosing "Sign in with Google", could you try choosing on "Sign in with Nest" instead, tap on "Forgotten password", then follow the prompts?

Hello. I tried that forgot password in Nest. Still no reset email arrived.

I am having the exact same problem. Really annoying. Everything was fine until my phone was stolen last week. In the setting up of the account again, I cannot get anywhere with this. So frustrating!!

I completely agree.  Google and Nest had made this sign in process so confusing it could not be more frustrating.  Once I am sent a code to my phone and I include it the code box provided, I expect I have completed the process and I'm connected.  THAT DOES NOT WORK, WHY?
