New 4th generation Nest, difference between "maintaining temp" and "holding temp"

Hi. This is my fist Nest! I have turned off all the learning options, I just want to be able to manually set my temperatures.

I am confused though what is the difference from when I manually set a temperature say 64F and the Next says "maintaining 64" vs setting a "hold" to 64F

I will also note the confusion stems from I had a "maintaining 66F" in the app, yet the temptation was 65F" so I just manually adjusted. I do not know if it just needed time to come on or what.

Thank you!

Hi

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I am glad that you have your first Nest Thermostat 4th gen. I understand that you want to use the thermostat manually, and you want to know what's the difference between "maintaining temperature" and "holding temperature." I'm happy to assist you right now.

When your thermostat is set to hold the temperature, it will maintain that specific temperature for as long as you want. This is convenient if you want your thermostat to ignore scheduled or automatic temperature changes for a while and stay at a specific temperature.

You can learn more about how to Hold the temperature on your thermostat in this article.

Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.

Regards,

Gabriela
