New NEST Thermostat blows heat on Cool setting

CGaines

I've seen a lot of people with this issue.

My problem is when I go into the Nest/Google app and click Settings - Thermostat there is no option to switch O & B setting.

Any suggestions?

Does it blow cool if you put the heat on?

did you just install it? You might need to check on setting from the nest itself. You should also configure your system to a forced air heat pump since heat pump uses o/b settings to operate. Good luck

Hi folks.

@CGaines, thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check and see if you are still in need of any help. If so, please answer the following:

  1. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  2. Is this a newly installed thermostat?
  3. Who installed the thermostat?
  4. Is there a wire that is connected to the OB terminal?
  5. What app are you using for the Nest Thermostat? Nest app or Google Home app?

I'll look forward to your response.

I appreciate your help, @HVAC

I am having the same issue with my new Nest thermostat. (Original version). I have a heat pump but in the Google Home app settings < thermostat; there is no heat pump option.  When I added the device in the app, I selected heat pump as my heat source so I assume that my issue is the O/B issue however I have not been able to find that option using any resources to make the update.  I DYI’d the install myself.  Given August in AZ with my indoor temp exceeding 85 degrees, I have presently swapped my thermostat back to my original so can’t take pics of the wiring.  Please advise and thanks,

Hi everyone,

@JuRo, thanks for letting us know. Could you please share with us the photo of the wires connected to your Nest Thermostat? Also, please take a screenshot of the information on your thermostat equipment.

Please follow this guide:

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings
  2. Look for Device Features.
  3. Select Thermostat.
  4. Check for Equipment.

I appreciate the help, @HVAC and Zoe.

Regards,

Jenelyn
