Hi all,
I have a brand new house (old one burned down) and they just completed it. The system is a 4 wire system:
Y, W, R, G. The R wire has the proper voltage and is connected to the RH "pin," The others are connected to the proper pins as well.
I put in three brand new Nest Learning 3s, and one works fine, the other two completely drain down. I know about trying to add the "C" wire, but for me, that's not an option. I do not want an external wire running to the thermostat, I can't refish the 2nd-floor thermo. And other ideas other than getting rid of them and going with new Honeywell Pros that the HVAC guy put in? Thanks.

I had the same issue, mine wouldn't charge. I had a 6 wire running from the thermo to the air handler but only 4 were actually hooked up in my air handler with the C wire not hooked up.
I hooked up the C wire in my air handler and on the thermostat and that solved my problem. Began charging immediately.
No issues since.
From what I've read, they really need that C wire to perform correctly. They can charge somewhat without it, but only when the system is running. Sometimes that just isn't enough.
Good luck with it.

Thank you! I hooked up the C wire and it still didn’t work. These thermostats were in storage for 14 months due to our house burning down. They were not in the house though, they were brand new in the sealed boxes. I tried all three and same result. I’m just going back to the original Honeywell programmable that the builder put in and dumping the Nests. Very disappointed in them.

Hi folks,
Thanks for your input, @Jesse33823.
@Chipell, uh-oh! Have you tried to charge the thermostat already using a micro-USB cable? If not yet, kindly connect a micro-USB cable at the back of your Nest Learning Thermostat displays through a USB adapter, plug it into a working power outlet, and then charge it for ten minutes. If it flashed a green light, then it indicates it's already charging.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Zoe

Well, I figured it out. The fuse blew because 2 pins were touching in the Nest plug. I used a tweezers to straighten them up and all is well. Ran the c wire as well. Working as they should.
