New Nest Learning Thermostat not lowing the temperature

Newly Installed (install ordered through Google Store) Nest Learning Thermostat not lowing the temperature after five hours. Displays various times from one hour to one hour 25 minutes. Humidity stable.  Temperature holding steady four degrees above desired temperature (73 vs. 77).  Reset the Nest Thermostat with no difference in cooling.

Is this normal with a new Nest Learning Thermostat?

Hello folks,

Thanks for letting us know about the Temperature issue showing on your Nest Thermostats. I'd be happy to take a look into it.

@djkFlorida, power-related issues and thermostat settings can be the reason why it doesn't drop the temperature. Does your thermostat have a common wire installed? Did you enable the Eco Temperature? Please gather its power readouts in the Technical Info settings. I'll look forward to your response.

@MacLissa, I understand your input about the Rush Hour Rewards, as it changes the temperature unexpectedly during peak hours by your Energy provider but balances energy savings and comfort. With this, let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Regards,
Mark

It is if you signed up for Rush Hour Rewards. They take control of your Thermostat and even though you're supposed to be able to adjust it a couple degrees during Peak hours, you cannot.

At least yours is livable. I always set mine to 78 btwn 5pm & 8pm, so during those 108° days, Nest has been holding my temp at 83° and there is no way to UNENROLL, so I have to remove my Nest completely to gain control back so my elder parents don't faint in their rooms. It's a major concern that many have shared. Search Rush Hour.

Markjoseph,

Not sure where the power readouts are found. Under Energy History there are lots of temp readings for each day, I initially had the Eco tuned on, but it was tracking my presence as either home or away and doing stupid things like turning on the heat thru auto-scheduling (that was never set) and turning off entirely on its own.  A Goggle tech through phone support had me disable ECO so that I could make any temperature changes manually going forward. I couldn't rely on the Nest Learning Thermostat. I hesitate to allow any "learning" again.  Without making any further changes the thermostat has been stable the last four days with temp changes done manually.
regards,
djkFlorida

Hello djkFlorida,

I understand your thoughts about its learning feature. But I'm glad to hear that your thermostat no longer changes its temperature unexpectedly by turning off some of its features. In the meantime, observe its behavior and let us know if anything comes up.

Thanks,
Mark
