I am stunned to have to send this note.
Some time ago I purchased a Nest Learning Thermostat and connected it to the excellent Nest App and no problems at all
Yesterday, I purchased a Nest Thermostat E for my rental condo and ALL i wanted to do was add the new Nest Thermostat to the Nest App as it shows you that is possible
1. Could not install the new Nest Thermostat E without using the clunky Google Home App
2. Even though the Nest App has an area to add new Homes and new Thermostat E, when I try to add it wont allow
3. The condo is in Florida and we CANNOT have Eco mode kicking in, but it seems the only way to turn it off is with the Nest App ??
4. Of course I worked for hours on chat, but those folks had NO answers except reading off a script
What the hell is going on here as I simply want to add this to nest and MUST shut off the Eco mode

Hello Pabco,
I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused you in adding your new Nest Thermostat to the app. Let's sort this out.
You might have had the Nest Thermostat 2020 model (mirror finished), which is the reason why it's not allowing you to add it in the Nest app. You can only use the Google Home app for the specific thermostat model, as it is fully integrated with Google. However, as long as you've been using the same email address with your thermostats, your Nest Learning Thermostat would also appear in the Google Home app, so you could control it using one app.
If you have the Nest Thermostat E, you need to create a new home structure as you have installed your thermostats in different locations. Please take a look at this article and let me know if you need more help.
Regards,
Mark

Firstly, sincere thanks for replying and I guess I am just stunned. Google is great at artificial intelligence but app design has not been high on the list. However, the Nest app is wonderful, and intuitive and frankly is possibly the best thing about owning a Nest Thermostat or other device. I purchased the new Nest Thermostat that I find out no one seems to know the naming and its called "mirrored". All I wanted was to dd a second Google Nest Thermostat to my excellent Nest App. To my stunned amazement I am told no, you need to use Google Home. We all know Google Home is "in development" and not nearly at the level of the Nest app. I would have purchased and Ecobee or other if I knew I would be forced to have one app for one Nest app and another for the "mirrored" Nest. Now Google will say have both on the Google Home and then that means giving up a good app for a lousy one. What a ridiculous marketing effort on Google's part. What issue will it cause allowing Nest mirrored to be added to the Nest app. I mean even typing that sentence shows you how crazy this is. Anyway THANK YOU for responding because the Google Chat bot was not helpful at all
