New home old nest

Carecooks

I just bought a house that has a nest. I’ll be remodeling the house for the next 3 months and haven’t installed wi-fi yet. The Nest was programmed by the prior owners and I’d like to do a factory reset because I just got an extremely high PG&E bill for a place that I don’t live in.  Google suggests going to Setting>Equipment before doing the reset so that I can copy down the wiring info.  However when I press Settings nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Hey Carecooks,

Sorry for the delay but thanks for posting.

The wiring info would still be there and would not be reset when you perform a factory reset on the Nest thermostat. However, if you still need to have a copy of the wiring info, I suggest that you take off the thermostat display from it's base then take a photo of the wires from there.

Best,
