I tried to reset or renew? so I could get to heat and now I can't get anything. The screen tells me to go to the Google home app. I can't get anything else on the screen. There is nothing in the Google Home App.

Hi Mark . My original problem was taken care of by my neighbor who has a Nest and the reason I got one. He reset everything told me to only use my cell to change the temperatures etc because if I used the thermostat it would destroy my AC Units. TTrue??? I just lost my fam rm and Bedrm on my thermostat. I didn't touch my Nest. The only thing that I did was replace my Land Line with another phone same brand. Now I can't see my Fam Rm settings nor the Bedroom,  I am afraid to touch the thermostat. How do I get them back? Is there someone who I can get to come and help like the ? Nerds? Karen

Hello Karen,

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know. It appears that you need to add them again to the Google Home app — let's jump in and get them back online.

Here's a helpful article on how to set up your Nest Thermostats, and please let me know if that helps.

Regards,

Mark

Mark , after reading a bunch of things at the site you recommended it seems that while my thermostat is working I still can't set the temp. I have tried and get to a certain point and I don't understand the terminology and back out.  I am not sure if I pressed the restart if I would get back the set temps ?  Last time I pressed the other option and lost everything. 1)Again do you have any recommendations who I can get to come to my home and show me how to use my Nest.

2) Is it true that if I use the thermostat itself I will destroy my AC Units?  I think my neighbor told me that so I wouldn't touch anything and he might have to come back.  He is arrogant so I won't ask him again anyway. Karen

Hi Karen,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you; let's sort this out.

Controlling Nest Thermostat devices by itself won't damage the HVAC system. It will only allow you to control it manually, even if you do not have the Nest or Google Home apps. To confirm, what are you seeing on your thermostat screen? Also, are you using an Android phone or an iOS device?

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark, I am using an Android phone.  I am freezing today so am happy to hear that I won't destroy my AC Units. I suspected that he just didn't want to come back. I am thinking of getting the Geek Squad to teach me how to go through this unless you have a better idea or your help gets me through this. I can get so far in tech and then a question will arise and I don't understand either of the options. Karen

Sorry I didn't completely answer your questions. On my Thermostat  Screen by my bedroom it shows the Eco plus the green leaf under that is (68 which was chosen)  and under that is Indoor 70.

My fam rm thermostat reads Eco with green leaf and 56 and under that is Indoor 70.. I have a space heater on nearby at the moment.

Hello there,

I'm sorry for the delayed response, Karen. I appreciate your patience and for letting us know about this. Let's verify if your thermostat is ready for setup.

On your thermostat device itself. Please go to its settings and look for the Account or Nest App option. If it shows as not connected, you can add it to the app and continue the process. It is also preferable to seek assistance from your friends so that they can guide you.

Let me know if you need more help.

Regards,

Mark

Good Morning Mark,

No need to apologize.  Our lives are busy. I just got back  late yesterday from Mid BCS where I go with a group called the Flying Samaritans. We have a clinic there.  I only have the neighbor who set up my Thermostat  twice now ( the arrogant one) and I will not ask him again.  I did notice that the Geek Squad will do that.  I will have to wait a bit for that will probably cost $$$.
But with them I can take notes and they won't tell me like my neighbor did that if I touch it it will destroy my AC units. I just got up and will try what you said. I get stuck when it starts wanting technical info. Thanks and Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas Mark,

I tried several times after going into settings is says connected and I can't seem to go any further.  I think I just need to get the Geek Squad  over to help. The good news is since I wasn't fearful of blowing up my AC Units I have had the ability to change the temperature in my home for comfort.  Thanks again. Karen

I am blown away with the backup support your people have.  I just don't know what to push to get things programmed. I got to settings and connected but don't see another option to program temps. for both thermostats. As I said before when I get a chance I think I need to get the Geek Squad or something like that to help.  If you know a source please let me know. Thank you .  Karen
