Hi I am attempting to upgrade Ritetemp 8029 thermostat to Nest thermostat (non learning). Compatibility checker said it may work so I bought it but now setup is saying it’s not compatible. Feels bait and switch to me since the setup goes through a similar flow as the compatibility checker. Can anyone confirm if it is not compatible by the picture attached? Besides the connected wires there is a blue one that goes nowhere currently. Thank you in advance!

Yes it is compatible looks like a very basic Heat and AC system.
Do not use any jumpers on the Nest or any smart tstat.
So just hook up
Red to R
White to W
Green to G
Yellow to Y
Then you will need a C common wire to keep power on to the Nest.
You have the Blue wire that can be used as C but you need to go to the furnace and remove the cover, find the terminal screws where the thermostat wires connect and look for a screw labeled C (or B in some brands). Connect blue wire if not already connected, then go back and put blue wire on Nest C.
Turn power back on and complete setup.
