New to Nest Thermostat

New home, new Nest thermostats. I have two thermostats. When I set up the initial home setting(called it home planet) it connected to the main level thermostat. Then I set up the basement thermostat and it showed up like a thermostat I can control. The mail level is simply connected to the Home Planet icon, but I cannot control the actual thermostat from my phone. It somehow integrated into the title setting of the APP. I attempt to connect mail level thermostat and I get the message it is already connected to the home planet. I scanned QR code and same message that it is already connected. No 7 digit key will show up again it just says it is already connected. I just cannot control the thermostat. Thanks for any help!!

It can be frustrating when your thermostat appears connected but can't control your system. Here are some troubleshooting steps to get things working smoothly again:

 

First, check the thermostat itself. See if it's connected to Wi-Fi. Restarting the thermostat can also help refresh the connection. You can restart the thermostat by holding the ring for several seconds until it reboots.

 

If restarting doesn't help and you have a Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E, you can remove the thermostat from the Nest app. On the thermostat, remove the paired account by going into the settings, tapping "reset," scrolling down to "account connection," and following the on-screen instructions to confirm.

 

After these steps, you should be able to get a QR code or entry key again to continue with the setup. 

 

If you don't have the option to reset the account connection, then you most likely have a different Nest thermostat model. If that's the case, you might have to follow this article on performing a factory reset.
