Next Thermostat - Temperarure Range & Lock!

Hi all,

Has anyone found a workaround to Next Thermostat not having the usual temperature range and lock feature?

I'm essentially trying to set a minimum temperature, so that our renters dont freeze the place!

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you'd like to know about setting up a minimum temperature setting and a 'lock' feature for your Nest Thermostat. That sounds like a great option to avoid getting your place too cold and to prevent unwanted people from accessing the thermostat's settings. I'm happy to help.

The closest feature for your request that we have available is the Hold a Temperature feature. This option works with the Nest Thermostat (2020) or the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). Earlier versions of the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E don't have a dedicated 'hold' function, but you can still manually change the temperature, and the thermostat will learn from your adjustments.
To provide you with the most accurate assistance, please answer the following questions:

• What is the thermostat model you have? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.
• Do you have a conventional system (furnace and AC unit) or a heat pump system (single unit for heating and cooling)?
• Have you created any schedule with your thermostat?

As for the lock feature, there's a way to lock and unlock your Nest Thermostat. You can lock your thermostat in the Settings menu on the device itself, or with the Home or Nest app. To unlock it, you'll need to enter the four-digit PIN code on the thermostat or use the app. When a Nest thermostat is locked, it will still heat or cool to any temperatures in your schedule, even if they are outside of the locked temperature range.
