My Nest thermostat is giving error e298 (no power). I went through all the trouble shooting steps. Checked circuit breaker, changed batteries, checked wire connections. Nothing has worked.
This is not a new install, it has been working fine for 6 mo or so. All of a sudden I am getting this error and have no way to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
Model: Thermostat 1.4

It's probably not the furnace, but if you have checked everything else, it might be.
It's possible the HVAC system is having an issue. Sometimes the furnace will malfunction and not send the proper power to the thermostat. A furnace usually will have a light somewhere visible inside, often though a little window. Does it appear it is getting power and lighting up? Is that light blinking in some sort of error code pattern or displaying a letter or number combination. It's also possible one of the wires in the thermostat cable came loose at the furnace.
If you have a multi-meter you can test between R and C. It should read approximately 24 Volts AC.

Hello folks,
Thanks for assisting, Jenelyn.
@LuluG, your system may not provide enough power or any power to either the thermostat or a specific wire (so the thermostat can’t complete a circuit and shows a report). Could you please check its power readouts from your actual thermostat's equipment settings?
We'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark
