No C terminal at boiler

I'm installing a nest thermostat and I have a 2 wire heating system  with no c wire at boiler. I have 24v on the red wire. Can I add a jumper wire from R to C at the thermostat to supply voltage or do I have to get a 24v transformer?

Hi seascoundrel,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats.

Jumper wire is not needed for Nest Thermostat. if your system is just two-wire heating system only, I recommend you contact a professional installer to wire a C wire from your heating system to the thermostat base or have a Nest Power Connector installed on your control board where the other end of the thermostat wires are connected.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Zoe
