No heat ac works, blower works

Installed a new nest thermostat. AC works fine, blower works but no heat. When I jumper R & W wires at the nest my heat works fine.

Post a picture of the original thermostat's wiring.

What wires did you select in the App when you set it up?

I don't have a photo of the old wiring, I was required to install the c-wire adapter. All functions operate, except the heat does not engage unless the r & w wires are jumped. Based on other forums this is a common concern based on the electronics used by Google Nest. I was hopeful there was a resolution provided for a product that doesn't function as advertised.
