No offline nest alert

I have a Nest model 4.9 whatever that means. I have a Wet switch wired into my furnace, which means if it detects a leak in the area that the wet switch is located, it shuts off the system. This causes the nest to lose power, and I don’t know about it until it is so hot in the house that the dog is melting.

I want to know why there is not a way for the nest to send an alert to your phone about issues such as this. I realize it has a back up battery but it does not last very long and it could use that battery to send a message.

I have seen on the forum that other people have similar issues and to have such an advanced thermostat that cannot proactively update you on possible problems seems silly

I believe you have to share more info with them to receive or sign up for this type  of alerts

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for the input, @HVAC.

@OpposumStuff, in addition to what was shared above. If your Nest Thermostat’s internal battery charge gets too low, the thermostat will take steps to preserve battery life so it can continue to keep you comfortable and help save energy for as long as possible. You should get a notification from your thermostat about a power or wiring issue if the battery charge is low. Here's an article about the HVAC monitoring alerts relevant to your inquiry.

Let us know if you have more questions.

Regards,

Mark
